From There to Here: Helping International Students Get to Canada
December 20, 2023

If you’re an international student who has recently applied to a Canadian college or university program, you might be wondering “So what exactly do I do AFTER I get accepted?”
Step one. Do a happy dance! You got in!
Step two. Start the process for obtaining your study permit.
Students who are not citizens or permanent residents of Canada require a study permit in order to continue their education in Canada. The permit application process can be long, confusing, and expensive if done incorrectly. Unfortunately, there are also a lot of fraudulent immigration services around the world that charge steep fees, offer false hope, and leave young adults scrambling to file their applications at the last minute.
Virtual High School is pleased to announce that we have recently partnered with BorderPass in an effort to help our international students gain access to trusted immigration lawyers and legal services! Founded with the goal of making the student immigration process streamlined, transparent, and affordable, BorderPass provides students with access to Canadian lawyers, an application management platform, and ongoing legal support throughout their entire immigration journey: from study permit to work permit to permanent residence.
With a BorderPass account, you’ll get access to the following services:
- Study permit application preparation through an easy-to-use digital platform
- Review and filing of your application by Canadian immigration lawyers
- Annual access to the BorderPass Club
- Notifications of key dates
- Continuous monitoring and management of visas and immigration documentation in your personal BorderPass Document Vault
- Relationship with Canadian immigration lawyers and access to professional legal immigration experts, including group workshops, 1:1 consultations, and email/chat support with prompt response times
- Ongoing tracking and management to provide international students with visibility, guidance, and tips on their permanent residency pathways
- Social Insurance Number (SIN) registration
- High-level tax advising to maximize credits and refunds available for international students
- Preferred rates on additional services such as study permit extensions, work permits, spousal permits, visitor visas, and more

At VHS, we care about the continued success of our students long after they have completed their high school courses. We hope that by teaming up with BorderPass we are able to help ease a little of the stress, anxiety, and financial strain that come with moving to a new country. By connecting our students with BorderPass, we aim to set you up with long-term guidance and support as you pursue your academic and career goals.
